When building a strong team to serve agriculture in Iowa (and beyond), we take a lot of pride in our employees. They are truly the thing that makes HTS Ag successful. It’s their hard work, dedication and the pride they take in making our customers’ farming operations more efficient and profitable that has taken us to the next level. In honor of that, we are continuing to highlight our employees. This month, our employee spotlight is with Brandon Fischer.
What do you do at HTS Ag?
Brandon: I am the service manager. I started out as a technician, but management immediately saw that I was super smart and special and promoted me.
How long have you been here?
Brandon: I have been with the company for 6.5 years
What does your typical day look like?
Brandon: I wouldn’t say I have a “typical” day here at HTS Ag. I get to spend time in the office scheduling installations or service calls, on the phone helping customers solve issues on the fly or I get to go out on installs and train our technicians on new techniques and best practices.
What’s the best thing about HTS Ag?
Brandon: I find it satisfying seeing the customer get excited when we get an Ag Leader or OPI Grain Management system fully installed, and they see it working. You know that they are happy with the product and can start farming more efficiently.
Has there been anything that surprised you?
Brandon: I know that we have a large footprint in the state, but I was surprised to see how many people have heard of us/do business with us from outside the state. Nebraska, Missouri, sure, they are close…but getting into Illinois, Southern Missouri, Oregon, we even have a customer in Utah that will only work with HTS Ag. It’s a testament to our knowledge and reputation on how many farmers around the country will call us to get technology or advice on getting it working.
Do you have any customer success stories?
Brandon: My favorite story is helping an 85-year-old guy set up his sprayer with right spot, boom loop, steering, and Agfiniti account. He also has a Norac system, so he does not have to tough a single button when he starts spraying. The sprayer can completely steer itself and turn and each nozzle turns on and off independently. Technology has come so advanced in a short amount of time. And we make sure customers know how easy it is to use!
What do you do when you’re not at work?
Brandon: When I’m not at work I attend numerous kids sporting events and help my father-in-law farm. Which helps me know the capabilities of the technology we sell. Something unique about HTS Ag is that we have several farmers in our staff that also use the same technology, kind of like the old “Hair Club of Men” commercials…we’re not only selling/installing, we’re also customers. I also enjoy taking my 3 boys fishing at our pond, where I spend most of the time, baiting their hooks and taking fish off, that I rarely get a chance to cast myself.
Brandon Fischer puts his knowledge and experience to work every day at HTS Ag. Getting the most out the technicians and making sure that they can get your equipment up and running for the season. There have been hiccups and hardships with some new technology, but Brandon has always figured out a way to get them fully working. To the point where he has had to fill in manufacturers on how to get their systems working. If it can be broken, Brandon has done it…but he also knows how to fix it.
