At HTS Ag, we are a small ag business that has a lot of moving parts
and it takes a great deal of hard work from a very capable and competent team of dedicated employees. Over the next few months, we plan on highlighting our staff to give you a peak on what it’s like to work at HTS Ag.
Our spotlight this month is with Shiloh Olmstead.
What is your role at HTS Ag and how long have you been doing it?
Shiloh: For 16 years (17 in September) I have been the Operations Manager.
What does your typical day look like?
Shiloh: I don’t think I’ve ever had two days are the same here. I spend time in all areas of the business, financials, sales, service. I just kind of do whatever is needed of me.
What do you think is the best thing about HTS Ag?
Shiloh: HTS Ag definitely has a heart for agriculture and rural America. We are all dedicated to helping our customers optimize their time and efforts in their business so they can focus on what is truly important to all of us, family. HTS Ag does the same for their employees. During my time with HTS I have gotten married, had children and lived a lot of life. HTS has been truly wonderful at making sure I don’t miss anything with my family.
Has there been anything that surprised you?
Shiloh: The technology has evolved so much over my time here. While we are still in the same lines of business, I don’t think any of the technology is the same and continuously evolves. It’s fun and overwhelming sometimes seeing all the changes and keeping up with the ever-changing industry.
Do you have any customer success stories?
Shiloh: Hearing problems that the systems have solved for our customers is my favorite thing. I’ve heard from customers on the bin systems that they would have had no idea that their bin had a hot spot if it weren’t for our system alerting them. We had an 84-year-old farmer that put shutoffs and steering on his planter and tractor. He said it allowed him to farm longer than he would have and couldn’t do it without the system. We had a customer with the National Forest Service find a budding forest fire on the first flight with their new drone.
What do you do when you’re not at work?
Shiloh: When I’m not at work, I enjoy hanging out with my family. I have a handsome husband Frank and two daughters that keep us busy. We enjoy camping, biking and shuffling our girls to all their activities.
If the technicians are the callused hands that get the work done and the Technology Advisors are the face of the company, getting out there and putting Ag Leader, OPI Grain Management and sUAS’ on the farm. Operations manager, Shiloh, is the eyes and ears of HTS Ag. Keeping a look out for what’s coming and any problems or hiccups that may cause a disruption to workflow and service for our customers. And listening for ways to improve the customers and employees' experiences to keep the company moving in a positive direction.
Whether you’ve worked with HTS Ag for years, or are a new customer, chances are you’ve probably chatted with Shiloh on the phone, and whatever question/issue you’ve called for she has put in the work to find the answer or the person who can find it and get you what you need. We are really fortunate to have Shiloh at HTS Ag.
